Well thats that I guess I figured out who my HDD manufacturer was and downloaded the tester from them. My HDD failed everything the S.M.A.R.T test, the extended test didn't complete because too many bad sectors, I tried the write zeros tool don't know why I bothered didn't think it would work lol. Of course it didn't once it reached all those bad sectors. So now I need to replace the HDD or buy a whole new tower.

Hi Nessa, it's completely up to you. I personally take the opportunity if I have any failing components in my PC to upgrade, but HDD's are quite cheap themselves these days. Do you know how much space you have on your current disk?

Hi madmonkey, the HDD I have now is only 20GB EIDE western digital. I bought the pc used a few years ago before I knew much of anything about pc's it was all new to me so I just took the guys word on things. I've learned quite a bit since then lol, I thought maybe I'll get a new HDD about 80GB but then I was wondering if I should just get a whole new pc tower because I only have 256 ram which I would like to upgrade and not even sure what the motherboard is. I think its a PcChips from trying to research the BIOs string.

Hi, upgrading is, as MM said, a personal thing. Only you will know if you have the money/need/knowledge. If you ask a Tech they usually they'll say YES!...it all depends whether the PC you have is capable of doing the things you require it to...if not, it's time to upgrade.
