HI renely,

Your computer is copatable with an IDE (also known as PATA) hard drives.
You can easily replace the CD drive to a DVD drive...this is a very simple process.

256mb is also a substantially little amount of memory in this day and age...I'd suggest thnking aobut ugprading that to at least 512, maybe even a bit more...or possibly the computer as well.

HI GaR,Thanks so much for the advice!!! Is there any specific type of memory I should look for? Also I have a dvd drive as well as a cd drive and neither one of them works....go figure, I did not know if i can upgrade to perhaps a dvd burner?!. Anyhow I would value any advice you might have. Thans so much

Hi, you need this type of memory Compaq Presario 7000 Series (7AP134 - 7AP195)(7PL290-295) Memory look like it will take a maximum of 512mb so 2 x 256 you might find that you have 2 x 128 mb at the minute. Looks like a DVD burner should be ok to! hard drive size maybe limited by you bios not sure GaRHar might know.
