can you get into the bios to see if the computer see's the hard drive? sounds like it has been set in the bios to boot from the floppy disk or if it is an older pc it may have forgoten it's bios settings due to a flat battery.

I'd say it has forgoten which drive to boot off that's why it would be asking for a floppy boot disk. Or the hard drive is formatted with no O/S on it and that's the other reason or it may not have a hard disk in it this would also make it ask for a boot disk. So please first check you bios to see what the problem is exactly
