Depending on how you used the Ultimate Boot CD, you could have used it like an advanced 98SE bootdisk. Creating a DOS environment, then you should have run the FDISK command on the harddrive, this will give you the ability to delete all of the partitions and recreate them. Then you would use the FORMAT command to format the drive. From there you should be able to install an OS.

What utilities did you use? What environment did you boot into?

Looking forward to your reply,

Okay, I don't know what part of the UBCD to use to use those commands. Was I supposed to select "boot hard drive 1" or whatever the option at the bottom of the main menu was? It tells me that there's some sort of error. I forgot what it was.

If you can't tell me the error Rat I can't tell you what it means, lol.

Seriously, if you have the RMA, why aren't you just sending it back? But if you really want to give this a try, when the menu pops up, go to Harddisk Tools, F2, and try running the Killdisk utility under Hard Disk Wiping, or some of the other Hard Disk tools to see if you can get control of the drive.

Looking forward to your reply,

I'm not sending it for RMA because by the time I get the necessary materials, I wouldn't have enough time for them to receive it before the RMA expires. Therefore, I'm waiting to make a new one and sending it back then.

The error I got before was "FATAL" or something, followed by "System Halted."
I'll get back with the actual error, and try what you said.

I chose that "Nuke" or whatever software and it's working, but according to my math it will take just over 120 days to finish! How can I stop it to see if a different wipe would work more quickly? Esc didn't work.

Don't want to wait 120 days? How shocking, lol.

Try turning the PC off with the power switch, and reboot with the CD.

I'm glad to hear that the wipe is at least accessing the drive, very positive indeed.
