Smile IDE Controller Question

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone knows what would happen if you rewired 2 ide cables into one and piggybacked them off each other.. Essentially having 4 HDD's for the 1 IDE Channel..

I know an IDE Controller can only support 2 drives so dont bother telling me that, but im just curious. Would the Controller only recognise the first 2 drives in the chain or would it fail to recognise anything or would it detect drives via the jumper settings??

Cheers all

Well it wouldn't work.
Why?
It's a BIOS thing as you can only have a Primary section and a Secondary section.
You may get away with it by having an extra IDE connector on the mobo but with all this sata gubbings coming to the fore IDE's are gonna become dinosaurs.
