Hi Student

Welcome back to PCHF

It sounds like the drive has bit the dust mate however you could try going into the bios, changing the boot sequence to cdrom, inserting your XP (presuming your running XP) disk and run a repair.

Hi Lazy,

Clicking from a HDD is not a good sign, it could be signs of failure.

Can you run a scandisk, go to My Computer, right click on Local Disk (c), and go to Properties. Under to Tools tab, for "Error Checking", click Check Now. Tick both check box's and start. You will need to reboot, and could take a few hours.

Are you using any kind of KVM switch between the keyboard and the PC?

That's a bit odd, since the ps/2 keyboard needs to be picked up at BIOS for it to work in Windows? Have you another ps/2 keyboard you can borrow?
