i was recently talking with someone about me purchasing this ----> Canada Computers - Your Neighbourhood Computer Store and Service Centre - PC Systems and Hardware Components, Notebooks, Electronics, and more.
and someone told me that it would work perfectly and everything, well i just got it today, and i have it all plugged in, but it doesnt show up anywhere on my computer, the little yellow bubble in the right corner didnt even show up to tell me that a usb thing has been plugged in, can anyone please help, im pretty sure i have it plugged in right, and i read the manuel but it only gives me directions for windows 98 and otherwise it just says it will work with XP, please help, thank you in advance for any help

When you switch it on does the drive light up?

If you go to Control Panel, System, Hardware Tab, Device Manager. If this device is working properly, you should see under the section "Disk Drives", "USB Storage Device USB Device" or "USB Mass Storage Device"?

when i switch it on the light does go on but i just went to the disk drive thing like you said but under the disk drives part in only says "Maxtor 6Y080L0

What HDD did you put in this enclosure? and does this HDD show up in the same section?

seagate barracuda 7200.10 320 GB SATA2 3GB/s 7200rpm 16 MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive is the type of hard drive i have, what do you mean by show up in the same section?

Is it just your Maxtor that appears in the list of Disk drives or are there others?

nothing appears at all, i plugged it in and nothing showed up, i bought that maxtor brand new, and i am trying to just add it to my pc, so i bought the enclosure, but for some reason after i plugged everything in, nothing happens at all
