Default [Answered] SATA2 to IDE

hello, i have recently purchased a seagate barracuda 7200.10 320 GB SATA2 3GB/s 7200rpm 16 MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive for my computer, what i did not realise is that i do not have any SATA2 things on my mother board, im not too great with computers, but i no i cant plug it in, i only have IDE things on my mother board, and i was wondering if there were such adapters for my problem, i just want to be able to plug that hard drive into my computer somehow, please help me, or just give me a link to a site that has these adapters or any help as well, please and thanks

Welcome to PC Helpforum!

I'm sorry to say that there's no converter or adapter available herefore.
There are S-ATA and IDE mainboards, some mainboards have both, but a mainboard with only IDE can not be connected to S-ATA drives.

thanks bluefish, are you telling me that i will not be able to hook a sata2 harddrive into my computer?, what do you recomend i do?, also, i dont no what a mainboard is lol

Well, your mainboard is the piece of your computer everything is connected to. It's inside your case and it's the 'body' of your computer.
I'd try to switch the drive for an IDE, at the shop.

EDIT: mainboard = motherboard

ohh, a mainboard si the same thing as a motherboard? thats what my friends call it, anyways, i actually got the harddrive from NCIX.com, so i dont htink that i can return it or exchange it or anything, my one friend says theres probably such thing as a USB connecter thing or something like that for SATA2 do you know of anything at all like this?

Good point, but it'll cost some money. You may be able to buy a S-ATA HDD USB case.
You can put the drive in there, and connect the stuff to your computer using USB.
The disk will be external then.

ok thanks bluefish, i dont mind spenidng money on something i need, could you possibly link me to a site that could explain what that stuff is and how much it would be, or even wher ei could get it thanks in adavnce if you cant find links thats ok too, thanks again
