hi i am currently using a ide harddrive and i plan to upgrade to a sata harddrive. i would like to know how i could do this. i plan to have just 1 sata hardrive and my optical drives. my motherboard is the asus a8n sli-se. i am not sure i would need to set the system up

that should be possible i believe our chief tech has that board with his raptors. I will check for you though.

so if i was to move to sata would i have to move my optical drives from secondary master/slave to primary?. as i plan to have just a sata hardrive

well i had a cd-rw and a dvd-rw in my old system so i just reused them

nope i think you can leave them in secondary and have the SATA in primary.

so it should be fine by just taking out my ide harddrive and putting in a new sata drive ?
