Default [Answered] Question about transferring certain things to external hard-drive

My Local C:/ Drive needs to be cleaned up because it is slowing my pc down, and I want to take some things off of it and store it on my Ext. Hard Drive. I was wondering though with programs like Java and AIM will those programs work any differently or not be detected since it is not on my Local C:/ Drive?

Windows has assigned locations all over the hard drive that it sets aside for software for Java and AIM etc

Anything that's in 'Documents and Settings' 'Program Files' and 'Windows' - do not touch...everything else - move away
