Default My external HDD case giving problem

hi there,
I have an external hdd case and it gives me a head ache when i connect it to computers. Actually i put an 80GB hdd in the said case and inturn connect it through USB. Nevertheless, it get detected but will not show under "my computer" so i could access it. It does the same thing with 40GB hdd's but does well with 20GB's. Maybe i'm just missing out something and would greatly appreciate if i could get help.

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't appear under comp mngmnt either. U c mostly when a device (mostly USB storage devices) is plugged to a comp, there is a message that u get which says your device has been successfully installed and ready for use. Alternatively, the issue of drive letter may become an issue when there are network drives, which i do not have.

Thanks in advance
