Default Hard drive Fustration

Can anyone help me with a hard drive issue. I am transfering one hard drive to another pc, both running xp.The older hd I am trying to use as a second drive.

The hard drive will show up on the new pc but you cannot access any of the personal files: no mp3 files or mpegs/jpegs. It shows programs etc but nothing else. The old HD was the only HD in the old pc.

I had this drive in a pc which was password protected.. has this got anything to do with it? I am unable to put hard drive back into original machine, as it no longer works.

The hard drive is definately working and the files etc all 40 gig is still there, I just cant access it.

I may be missing something very obvious.....can you help?
