Angry SATA master, IDE slave?? Help?? Please!

Hi,

I have tride installing a secondary IDE hard drive. The drive in my PC is a SATA drive when I plug in the IDE drive and boot up it use's the previous windows installed on it and overides the sata drive. It doesn't even detct the sata as a secondary.

I guess I need to format the IDE drive. I'm not sure how to do this or if it will solve the problem.

Has anyone had this problem or cam anyone help please.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Did you check the boot order in the bios?

IDE and STA use different channels..Just go to BOOT OPTIONS and set the SATA drive over the IDE. It is also possible-but not that likely nowdays- that by installing an IDE drive the SATA Boot option is grayed out (disabled)
