Hi benjaxx, welcome to the pchf!
The drive would just need to be assigned a drive letter and partitioned.
Click on Start -> Run -> diskmgmt.msc
This will open up a window called "Disk Management" and will have your hard drives that have a useable partition in the top half.
Bottom half will have all drives connected to your system. Disk 0 will be your current hard drive. Is there a Disk 1?
These are the steps from Microsoft on how to partition the drive and how to format the drive.

You can change the disk allocation unit size, and then specify whether to perform a quick format, or enable file and folder compression on NTFS volumes. Click Next.
