Default Hard Drive Temperature??

Just a general question - what is the optimum temperature range a hard drive should operate in? I have just noticed that my hard drive temp rises to around 28 to 30C within a very short time frame - is this normal? I have the software HD Tune installed on my PC and it indicates to me that everything is fine with my hard drive.

Hi Newfan!

That's for sure not unusual.
Your HD Tune software is probably right, everything will be fine.

The temperature that your harddisk is normally running on also depends on what manufacturer the harddisk is from.

Perhaps you can find more information on the manufacturer's website.

Yea newfan, that temp is fine...

Hard drives can take alot of heat, but as they have the most moving parts, a temp rise when they first turn on is quite acceptable.

If you're still worried about it, you can buy hdd fans, check out this link.
