You can try this..

Take the Hard drive out of the old pc.. (is it ide or eide?) and open the back of your laptop( will need to be running of dirrect current) and plug the old HD into the laptops ide insert and install that way.

As for the old pc there has to be an extra molex in there. Is there no IDE connections in there? I would open the whole case and look at it.

Can the operating system be installed from another computors DVD/CD drive through the ethernet port where the 2 computors are connected to each other? I seen it kind of done this way at work. I am just not sure how they did it.

This needs to be done via a RIS (Remote Installation Service) Server.

Unfortunatly not practicle for a home situation.
