As i have just bought a new computer i plan to use the hard drive from the old computer as an external hard drive (with this AKASA AK-EN-02BKUK ). How do i know if my hard drive is compatible with this enclosure? But as this hard drive was the main hard drive for my old computer it will have windows on it and so does the one in my new computer.


Does this matter?

If so how can i remove windows from the external hard drive?

Will i be able to access all the files on the external hard disk without user passwords that were used on the old computer.

Can you please post the details of your hard drive, and do you know if it is SATA (small cable) or IDE (wide flat cable).

in answer to your question i am not sure.

It has a wide flat band type of cable and on the cable it says Ultra ATA.

how do i remove windows and all the system files once i have transferred all the files needed?

right click on the hard drive in windows and select Format

just make sure you have all the files you need first
