RAMDRIVE assigns a drive letter when you are either trying to reboot, or formatting... and it changes the regular (CD=D) assignment to E ... if there are other drives in the system, it will keep kicking it down until it finds a free one. As I said... taking all other drives out of the system will give it a better chance. XP looks for certain drives, correct? If not there.. then what? Yes.. again... showing my ignorance...I'm not an XP user.. but the basis is there. All I will do from here is watch...

oh right...yea i'm with you now...yea the basis is the same...but xp just installs on the next available drive letter...it doesn't give you the option to change it which is quite painful on occasion.

Alright, I'm going to doi it or otherwise it will drive me crazy forever. Now, do I format the disk using Western Digital's tool or just reboot to my Windows disk?

I completely understand what you mean Bill. When I install windows, or even build my computer - if it's not 100% perfect...I will do it again.

It takes me about 3 hours to build my computer, only because I install the motherboard 4 times...each time after I have everything else plugged into it .

Let us know how you get on

Hi Guys!

Well, it's done and doing great. Now I know when I build a system to install Windows with only a floppy and CD hooked up! Pretty fast too. I set it up RAID 0 with 128 strip size. The only thing I'm wondering is if that number should have been different.

Anyway, thanks a ton for all your help, it made my life a lot easier!

Bill
