Hey guys i have had this problem with my hard drive for a while now. It doesn't read disks but it used to untill.......i started to leave my computer in standby mode and i later figured out that leaving your computer in standymode can corrupted your hard drive. Thankfully my other hard drive works but you can't write data on it thats why i want to fix this one. I found a program from microsoft.com to fix this but the program wouldn't work because i am running windows XP with SP2 and it only works on windows xp with out service packet. Now what can I do to fix my hard drive so that it reads disks again. Thankyou very much in advance for the help.

Are you running this as in a RAID configuration? I assume there is data you want to keep off this drive.... if not.... many things can be done.

Ohman!!! Nice setup GaRHaR..... really need to do the SATA here.. not sure what to think on Dragon.... sounds like a bad drive... or just not setup right... be well!

This could very well just be a couple of dead drives. But may just require a low level format, or user permissions may be incorrect...could be anything really, which is why i want to know what program he's been advised to use by MS so i can see if there's a SP2 supported version out there for him, or recommend a 3rd party option. Anywhich way this turns out, there will be an answer out there somewhere.

You dog!!!! Raptor drive?!?!? This thing here is supposed top be able to do a lot.. but it's sadly lacking.... just not what it should be.... I dunno if they are dead, but certainly need the low format.... many don't know how to properly.. as I had said before... many things to be done.. but I didn't know if he wanted any data off the drive... if not... than it's easy... And you are right there... somewhere there is the answer!!

thanks for the replies......yeah ihave a lot of information on my drive ......adn the program that i found on MS.com is right here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en i used that but the program gives me an error saying it wount work becasue i got a SP installed.
