Where did it go wrong when trying to run that tool? Because it seems it does run on XP SP2:

Q331958_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe

It may have said it wasn't able to install because it already was installed/newer version present.
If you have kept windows up to date then you should already have it installed.

the window that pops up says.............................

Q331958 Setup Error

Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system installed is newer that the update you are trying to applying to it.

You can only install this update on a computer with no Service Packs installed.

So what do i do now?

what version of XP are you running? Home? Pro? or Pro x64?
The website says it supports only Home and Pro.
However, that's beside the point. This kind of update should be included in the SP2, it may be a different issue at hand here.
