Is there a way to put a password on my entire external hard drive w/o usings some clucky 3rd party software? I'm goin off to college soon and am hoping i can guard me files
I'm unsure exactly how to password protect an entire drive without using software. However, you could open the root of the drive, create a new folder, password protect it, and move ALL off your drive contents into it. Then, when you're back using your comp, move everything back out of it and delete it again.
It's not possible doing this without 3rd party software.
You can protect your files with the Windows user restrictions, but all it takes is a simple 3 mouse clicks and the files can be accessed by anyone.
If you're trying to protect them, i suggest going into the bios, and disabling the port that the hard drive is plugged into, or even unplugging the drive from power all together.
