So my external hard drive seems to be really screwed up... I can copy files to my hard drive, mainly into folders that already exist and sometimes i can create new folders however from time to time when copying files I get a Cyclic Redundancy Check error and ontop of that My drive seems to have acquired a new folder which can be seen below:



when I run scan disk it freezes up or says there is an error and it exits out... any tips advice? thanks in advance,

This looks very bad. I'm afraid that I have to tell you that you can't do anything to this, the disk has probably come loose.
I hope for you that it's still under guarantee.
If there are really important files on it, make sure you don't use it any more, cause that could even cause more damage.
