I have an external hard drive that I've had for a while. It was working fine like it usually does earlier today, and my internet connection went out. Since I had nothing better to do, I took a nap. A few hours after I woke up my internet came back online, but I later noticed that my hard drive was no longer showing up properly. Under My Computer, it simply says "Local Disk" instead of it's name, and it shows up blank and unformatted. I'm not sure if the internet being out had anything to do with it, as I used the hard drive after the time the internet initially went out. The hard drive was more or less entirely full [at 500 GB] so recollecting everything that was on it would be really troublesome. Anyone have any ideas as to what could have caused this and if there's anything I can do?

You're internet connection has probably nothing to do with this.

Have you tried to use the Disk in another computer?

How old is that drive actually, as it may have come loose somehow, you will probably still be under guarantee right?
