Default [Resolved] - Hard Drive ID Please Help

Hey, I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I want to track down the price of a hard drive I have but I have no idea how to or identify it. Its a 200GB one and I had it in my PC package I bought.

I'd prefere a price for my one but a general prce for one would be cool.

I can help identify mine.

Reason I asked, I got a free new HD from my company to replace my faulty one. After i put the new one in my mate kinda snaped a bit off the top, and the things to plug into the top. The company rang the other day and said they wanted to collect te old one. Im thinking if they see the old one they'll charge for the new, who knows. So i wanna see prices

Thanks so much

Hi Buckethead.

Look in Device Manager (right click My Computer, properties, hardware), under 'drives', and it should be named.

Or, failing that, boot into your BIOS and see if it's detected and named in there - then use the magic of Google mate!

Sorry, I meant Disk Drives.

Yeah, there should be a list of whatever HDD's you have on that pc.

Hi I found this and googled a price of £50 - £60, I was wondering if anyone can do me a big favour and check also - just incase i screwed something up. Im not sure what sites are standard to check. Also you dont think the company could charge extortionatly over the standard prices we find online? Is it common?

Thanks for your help dude

Yeah, that price looks about right. As for the company charges - who knows. Most companies would probably just write it off for the amount it costs, so i'd act all innocent, make them a nice cup of tea with some biscuits, and with any luck they'll just collect and you'll hear no more about it!

If you are charged more than ?60, it might be worth mentioning to them that you have researched the product and know you can get it cheaper elsewhere. I'm sure for the sake of ?60 they'll not want to lose any future custom from you.

Good luck mate!
