Howdy SubGum and welcome to PCHF,
What operating system are you using and also are the jumpers on the hd itself set to slave or master? Aslo if you have Xp try this

Right click my computer..Click manage...Click disk management...Now your HD should be in there. Try right clicking it and formatting it the way you want.

Whoops, forgot to add that I'm on WinXP, and it also doesn't show up in Disk Management.

It's and IDE drive. My computer doesn't support SATA. I'll try removing the jumpers completely and rebooting.

Ok, when I take the jumper out, it read the disk fine in the BIOS but tries to boot from it. I get the "No Operating System on Main Drive" thing. when it's set to slave, I get a message that change has been detected at bootup, but it only shows my C: drive and my 2 CD drives. Doesn't show the new drive at all.
