Capabilte IDS: rEG_MULT_SZ = GEN DISK
Config flags 0x0000000(0)
Devise disc Reg_sz disk drive

I connected the floppy via the USB. Had no problem installing. However, it did not show up anywhere on the Drives. I checked in Device Manager and there it was,(no yellow ! mark) checked under "properties and it told me that it was working (joke!)
I then went to the BIOS (as advised by Seagate) and found that it was connected to the SATA. He told me change it from SATA to ATA (don't know how and am afraid to meddle with the BIOS).
The floppy is unplugged but yesterdsay I got a message telling me that something was overheating (51degrees) I have never had this problem before installing the floppy.
I also read an article in Microsoft that the Home editions has 4 drives. Inorder to give us 4 drives they have removed the floppy feature. ????? Can this be?
I would really like to use this floppy to make start up discs but obviously it does not work. ANY advise in getting this going would be greatly appreciated.
In anticipation........regards

How snoopy,
I dont know what seagate was telling you when they said to change it ATA. It is a usb floppy correct? Go back into your device manager and go into properties and see if it is plug and play. Windows should pick it up automaticcly if it is. Let us know what it says there.

Hi asa_sniper
Thanks so much for your fast reply---much appreciated. I also thought that the guy who wrote me from Seagate was CRAZY. Let me tell you that the guy from Sony was clueless!
Well after MUCH fiddling around, I am pleased to report that I have finally got floppy to show up under Drive A. I have no idea what I did so I can not advise others.
However, there is more-----I inserted a floppy into the devise and all I get is "please insert a disc" . I then tried to format a disc and it tells me that it is unable to format this disc. I then tried to send something from My Documents to the floppy, and it would not move it.
On the actual floppy which is plugged in as I write, there is no green light on.
Do you think the unit is faulty or is there something I am doing wrong?
Regards, A

Default Floppy drive

Sorry I forgot to answer your question---yes it is plugged in via a USB.
Under properties it tells me that it is working.
In the Device manager it shows me that there is a floppy drive---which it did not show me previously.
--my joy at finally getting something to work!!!

Hmm... Maybe floppy is disabled in BIOS. But dont think that would matter since it is connected via USB.

When you click its properties does it show as removeable?
Try uninstalling it from device manager and rebooting, and let windows pick it up at boot up. If it does not go to device manager and click search for plg and play devices and see if that helps.

Default Floppy Drive

So the devious floppy drive, is now even stranger.
I managed to get the A drive to work on my computer (at least it showed up) and all seemed well till-----I put the floppy disc in to the unit and it told me to "insert the disk." Well the disk was already in (brand new) but it would do nothing else except tell me to put the disc in.
So today I took the device to work where we have about 200 computers. I plugged the floppy device into about 10 computers and ALL of them showed the same message---insert disc and nothing happened.
Personally I think that the devise may be faulty.
Any thought s on this possibility?
I would like to send this next time!!!
