I recently upgraded my PC HD from Seagate 80GB to Seagate 250GB. Since then when I attempt to download a file (from anywhere, including Yahoo MPG, JPG attachments), the file is not saved anywhere. I also attempted to just run the file instead of downloading it (.exe files from Microsoft) and the (.exe) program does not run.
There are no error messages, and the download progresses as always. However, the file is never written anywhere.

Have you tried using the search tool in you're start menu? Also, does Internet Explorer/Firefox ask you where to save each file?

I have tried saving to my Desktop, specifying a folder on the hard drive, even specifying a folder on a DVD R/W drive. The file is never saved anywhere, yet no error messages and the progress window shows the file is downloading and completed. I also tried "RUN" and still nothing is saved or installed.

Please note: This is a software problem, not a hardware problem. I.e., Windows XP or Internet Exployer 6, or other...
