Default [Answered] Change Boot Drive - IDE to SATA

I have a wokring system with XP Pro SP2, 1GB Ram, Supremicro MB, and a Silicon Image SATA (150) controller. The controller has RAID features built in but I am NOT using RAID. The controller has been working fine for over a year with 3 drives.. I have a new (4th) SATA drive (installed and available). I used Ghost v9 to copy the image (with MBR) to te Sata Drive.

What do I need to do now? It looks like I need to modify the Boot.ini file with a correct ARC? address to the drive? How do I determine the correct address...I've read some info that explains what the disk address fields mean...but still very confused about what to do next.

Any help appreciated. thank you.

Welcome to the PC Help Forum 222fbj. I apologise that noone has responded to your question earlier.

I hope you have got your new drive up and runnign since you posted this.
I will still answer for further refence.

The most likely solution would be to rebuild the boot.ini file - which can be done with the us of the Windows XP cd. This link can help you with that. "Invalid Boot.ini" or "Windows could not start" error messages when you start your computer
