Default External drive PROBLEM

Hey folks,

Heres the deal. My external drive one day was fine and lived a happy life. Then it decided it want to become a local drive and create a partition. After talking to the "nice" and "knowledge filled" people at my PC store i deleted the partition with the slight hope that my data would still be there.

Now i can't find the drive on my system (in my computer) it is listed in the device manager but a can't find it to access it.

How do i access it?
If it is still ****ed how do i formatt it without formating my C: drive.

Please help me. Just about ready to throw it out the window followed by myself!

Cheers

Just clarify please, is this external drive;

a) the one you want to format
b) NOT your main "C:" drive

Did you receive any drivers with it when you first bought it?

you will have to format the drive although you may want to try some file recovery tools first. if you dont succeed to recover nay files go to start/run
type compmgmt.msc , go to disk management make partition on the drive and format it.
