When i start my pc up ,it says auto detecting pri master,as it always does but instead of detecting it,after about 10 secs it says not detected and then says auto dececting secondary slave but as i have not got one its says not detected and then tells me boot failure and asks me to put a floppy in.
i just turn the power off, start it up about 5 secs later and it dects my hard drive and runs win xp!

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Turn your computer on and use it like you normally do for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes download Speed Fan and install it.

Start Speed Fan. When it is fully loaded, take a screen shot of the first screen by pressing Print Screen/SysRq on your keyboard. Open Paint and paste. Save the screenshot as a JPEG and post it in a reply to me. Now click on the tab called S.M.A.R.T.. Click on the dropdown arrow at the top and select your first hard drive. Take a screenshot of that too. Now select your other hard drive and take a screenshot of that too. Post all screenshots in your reply to me.

With this, I can see if your computer's voltages are off, if the computer is overheating, or if the hard drives are giving out on you.

Welcome villaturk

computerwiz is correct, it sounds like your system may be overheating. Once you have posted your temperatures as per his instructions we will be able to give you advice on how to solve it.

Your temperature is 74 C. That is the highest temperature I have ever seen!! That definately needs to be addressed with either a heat sink or a new fan. There is the possibility that one of the fans inside your pc gave out.

Also, your -12 V and +5vsb is a bit more off than I'd like to see, but it shouldn't prove troublesome yet.
