Default Transferring Files to new computer

Hi Guys,

Happy New Year to you All!!

Would really appreciate some help, im about to get a new comp and was wondering whats the best way to transfer all my videos, photos and docs over to the new comp.

Both my old and new comp run on xp so is it best to use the xp transfer file wizard? can i use a USB cable to link the tho comps and if so where's the best place to get one one and do i need software for it to work?

Or is there a better way to transfer the files?

many thanks in anticipation guys!

Welcome to PCHF, quick poll...how did you discover PCHF?

Also, what is the size (collectively) of all the data you need to move?

Howdy Chifans.
Yes you were correct, usuing XP's built in transfer wizard is the easiest way to do this.

Here is a good step by step tutorial

Howdy again Chifans,
If you want the cheapest and easiet route, what you could do is take the old hard drive out and connect it as a slave in the new computer and just run the wizard. This way no cables to buy and very simple to do.
