:smiley: Hey Damien,

It's strange that you are getting the same XP window, your option to get into Safe Mode should come before that, immediately after the PCs splash screen, the one that shows the manufacterer.


You should be able to pull the model off of the computer. There should be a sticker with the model number, if you can't identify the MOBO, post that information and we can look it up for you.

Good Point there LGW.. Your safe mode options should pop up before the XP splash screen. Unless you wiped the drive and are reinstalling XP.

i think u miss understood me. I get the dell screen, then select start up in safe mode, then if goes to windows xp splash screen. then it goes to blue screen of death. the comp it a dell dimension 8400

So we're still looking for the SATA drivers.

Here is the tutorial for this problem from the Dell site

I didn't have time to read the entire article. It looked like the information that we were looking for.

Seems to me like we just need to get the SATA drivers to load, and then you will be able to proceed from there.

Does this PC have a floppy drive?
