First download the Hoster from here. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program. This will restore the original Hosts file.

See if you can update then , if not then have a look here:

Updating windows is pretty importend , i wouldn't skip it.

Its always good to update all drivers but atm the chipset drivers.

PS, im not saying it will work for sure but it is worth a try.
