Default [Pending] Problems with Windows ME and Harddrive!

Hi, I have an Advent 6410 laptop, with Windows ME and it keeps giving me problems, even after recovering my harddrive. I have recovered my harddrive two or three times now and it hasn't fixed my problems. I get the following problems. My screen keeps going blank with a message saying

"Disk write error? Unable to write to disk in drive C Data or files may be lost. Press any key to continue".

The other problem is that when I go online, a box frequently pops up saying that

"Lexplore has caused an error in.....DLL. Lexplore will now close."

It causes errors in several DLL. files. Once I click on ok, it closes explorer and if I try to open explorer again, Lexplore fails again. My computer keeps freezing up, on and offline. Hugely so! How could it be a virus if these problems occur straight after I recover my harddrive and reinstall the drivers? What can I do? I did have a virus a few days ago but I recovered the hard drive and it seemed to help for a few days. Now this. Last time I recovered my harddrive, yesterday, it was after my computer crashed and wouldn't start up because it said "invalid disk". Please help me. If you can.

Default Re: Problems with Windows ME and Harddrive!

When you "recover" your hard drive does it actually format and reload windows, or does it just reload windows.

If it doesn't format then the virus will still be on your system.

Otherwise it could be a faulty IDE cable or a faulty hard drive.

You could try exchanging the IDE cable with the one that connects to the CD-ROM drive and see whether that makes any difference.
