Try to listen where that "click" comes from , i have a feeling that that click comes from the harddrive.
If it is then it could mean that its gona die soon , just in case i would make some backups.
How old is the HD and what brand is it?

I thought i would be a Maxtor...
Check the temperture of the HD with one of the tools here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=1035.0 I think it will be running pretty hot ,maxtor's are known for that. And even though it is only 8 months old it could die soon if it's been running at a too high temperture. The best thing you can do is back everything up and take it back to the shop since its still under warrenty.

I myself like Seagate better ,i have heard alot about crashing Maxtors and i have had one maxtor myself and that started clicking and died but that one was running 45/55 degrees.
I could hear the HD activety stop ,then a very high pitched sound getting higher(barely hearable) and then the click , after that i could hear the HD ratling a bit (catching up) and all was ok again. All together it took maybe a second but it takes alot longer to write. lol

Montor it a bit and try to listen to that click to hear if it comes indeed from the HD but also run memtest to see if that brings up any errors:
http://www.memtest86.com/ And you also can try this:
