My HDD has been doing a dissapearing act every now and then. It just shuts down, then when I try to boot up, the post screen detects no HDD. The solution, I've found out, is rather funny.

Open the case, disconect and reconnect your HDD wires, then magically, its recongnized again. I've done virus scans, error-checking, nothing. Any idea what exactly is going on?

It sucks when you've shot down 5 bombers in a IL-16 in one mission and your system crashes and the data record lost.............

Have you tried a bios update Bear? It may well be the answer you are looking for.

I'm terrified of BIOS updates. You screw up, you're toast. Is there any other solutions??? :roll:

Phone PC manufacturer and explain the problem?

It was a DIY project, so I'm kinda on my own...... Would repacing the HDD solve matters? Of course that would be a last resort.......

Which part of updating the bios don't you like? It is relatively easy these days, heck my motherboard updates the bios in Windows!!
