Exclamation EVGA 9500 GT: Purple Lines/Drawing Errors

Hello, everyone,

I'm new to this site so I'm not familiar with most of the tools, forgive me.

Anyways I built a new system recently (everything except for the processor is brand new) and for the machine, I bought an EVGA 9500 GT 1GB card. After I installed XP, I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia's website and installed them. Then when the card was finally up and running I noticed that there were pixel drawing issues present on videos (youtube or wmp), some images and flash applications, however the strange part is that they don't show up while I play something in directx.

Here's what youtube videos look like when I play them:

These are images on Google. If you look closely you can see the lines of purple pixels going down on each image.

The next image is a screenshot of my desktop, you may not be able to see it carefully enough but the wallpaper contains small lines of jagged pixels, notice the bottom and the top areas.

As I mentioned earlier, flash applications such as popup ads or games suffer the same pixel problem as images and videos, notice the random pixels appearing in the pointed section in this picture.

Now all of this happens whenever I do anything on the desktop. even if I pop in a dvd there are pixels of random colors all over the screen. however if I run anything that is a directx application, no graphical problems show up.

I ran dxdiag to see if i can fix the problem from there but instead i discovered that this problem only happens to things that are being used on the desktop. and the image below taken from the direct x diagnostics application seems to be perfectly fine.

Even games that run in directx give me no graphical problems, none whatsoever. In fact they run perfectly smooth at high framerates and no pixel/graphical glitches were in sight.

I'm not really sure if they all come out pixelated and jagged on your end but remember that games work fine but images don't so I cant really tell. But my question is, Why is it that fullscreen games in directx and such look fine but videos and pictures on the desktop are all pixelated and jagged with purple lines running down?

I would really appreciate some help with this one, it's been really buggin' me for weeks. Anyone who knows or has an idea about what the basic problem Is, please let me know.

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
7200 RPM 500gb HD
EVGA 9800 GT
4GB Ram DDR2
Windows Xp Pro. SP3
Asus P5QL PRO Motherboard
650 watt PSU

Hi

Why don't you e-mail EVGA's support directly?

They're far more likely to have identified similar issues with other users.
