Hello, I'm currently using a XFX 9600 GT 512mb, only bought about a week ago. I play World of Warcraft, and with max settings my FPS in populated areas(Dalaran) drops to 10-19, and in other areas never goes above 29. I have a 2gb 667 kingston ram and a 2gb 800 kingston ram (shown memory on properties of my computer is 3583mb). Running a E7500@2.93Ghz, Vista Home Basic. My friend uses an 8600 GTS, which to my knowledge isn't better than 9600 GT, yet his FPS in Dalaran is 35. What is wrong? Are there any ways to improve my FPS? WoW isn't a technically demanding program, and if 9600 GT doesn't give 60FPS at max settings, something is terribly wrong.

Hello cheereos and welcome to the PCHF
What size PSU does your friend have? Also what size is your PSU?

I have no idea what size my friend's PSU is, but mine is 460W. Does that mean I have to get a larger PSU?

No idea how to edit, but some additional information. I put all settings to the lowest, and my fps in Dalaran is only 29.9, doesn't even go up to 60. Something is terribly wrong.

Did you compare your 3D settings in the Nvidia control panel to your friends? It could be that you have your settings tweaked a little too high.

Not sure what my friend's settings are too, but my Nvidia settings are at default, I haven't touched anything after driver installation/update.

I would have to say if all your settings are at default then you are having a problem and the card may be defective. Since the card is only a week old, I would try either calling the company and and ask for support or try taking it back to where you bought it and trading it for a replacement and seeing if it does the same.
