Question Driver fault results in blue screen

Since I installed a driver a while ago I have had some problems. I have tried installing new driver, but the problems seems to stay there. With most games it is just a brief shuttering, what can I say, it seems like the graphic stops for like a micro sec, and after that all seems fine. Up til now I have been to lazy to do anything real about it, but I have been playing Company of Heroes where the whole screen seems to have really become bugged. It runs slow, and will eventually result in a blue screen of death. I have tried using driversweeper to remove the old driver totally and install a new one, but it seems like the problem stays.

My though is that it is a problem with the driver itself, because I have install the same driver again, because I though it was a bug with something else. I have a laptop. I'm using xp 32 and geforce 8600 with 185.85 driver.

My tought are that I should: Find another driver then 185.85 or just format the whole thing. But is it just a driver problem ?

I have an nVidia 8500 gt and the 185 set of drivers all seemed buggy. I ended up going back to 182.50 and haven't had a problem since. Definitely try that before reformatting your computer.

Welcome to the FOrum Frederikbk!

I'm sure our talented Techs will have some suggestions for you.

Sounds like Xeno1 might have a good one there as well...

I've found in many cases that going back to an older driver for some systems actually will work better than the 'new' that most sites will recommend.

One other thing to try, if you will... once you uninstall the drivers in question, run CCleaner from the link in my signature. Smart Defrag is one that I've found to work a bit better than the regular Windows defrag... run that then try installing that previous version of drivers.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes, ok?
