Default Upgrading from nVidia 7600GT. And heatsink/fan question.

My current video card, the nVidia 7600GT is starting to overheat, (Idle temperature is 57 degrees C) and I want to know if it's possible to change the fan/heatsink on it. I'm also considering an upgrade, but I might stick with the 7600GT if I can fix the cooling problem. My motherboard is an ASUSTeK A8N32-SLI-Deluxe with standard PCI-express.

I'd like something less than $150, but I'm not sure if they come at that price...

Thanks.

Recommend you verify that you have the latest nVidia 7600GT driver.

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

I agree with Cobracon buy a zalman.

Although there maybe another reason why this is running hot?Have you opened up your computer and checked ALL your fans are spinning? When was the last time you cleaned the inside of your computer?

The computer is three years old and I cleaned it about two weeks ago, and the fan is spinning. I think it might be the age of the fan, so it's not performing as it was three years ago.

I've also downloaded GPU-Z and looked at the fan speed. It runs at 31% normally, and 65% when I run a game.

I'm also wondering if underclocking would help, because when I bought the card it was slightly overclocked. The default is 560MHz for the GPU and 700MHz for the memory. Mine is running at 580/750.

Then I would try underclocking or set back to default.

A card should not be over clocked if it already has a heat problem.Yes it is possible it has aged and running a little hot due to this.Or a combination of age and over clocking.
