Hi Guys
I recently installed a geforce 9800 gx2 and am having lots of problems (you may have seen a few posts from me here before).
I now have installed a 1000w
PSU and have finally got my pc to turn on. However, when my pc is running, it will run for a few minutes (5-10 before freezing with the sound looping in the background, and to turn it off i have to switch the power. This is regardless of whether i am playing a game or not
I have tried the following solutions:
- Underclocking - has no effect
- Turning fan up - if anything seemed to make it worse
- Updating all drivers (except BIOS, see later in post)
- Reinstalling card - Did this last night and the card worked for about an hour before freezing, now it freezes every 5 minutes again
- Turning anti-aliasing off - no effect
I have looked on many many gcard forums and lots of people with this or similar cards complain of similar problems, and some of them have managed to fix theirs by doing some of the above but mine is still not working.
There are two final options i have heard, as follows:
1. Update BIOS driver - Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial for this? Also, I have used a program to scan my bios and it says i have a 'Dixon Philips G33T_AM motherboard (american megatrends), and PLP_914 BIOS, but when i google these, nothing comes up. Can anyone tell me what BIOS i have?
2. People mention something about checking voltages in bios or something. I am a bit worried about fiddling round with voltages but if there is a good tutorial somewhere i will do this also.
I have now spent about £550 in total on trying to get this card to work and unless these options work i am going to have to bin the damn thing
Thanks guys
