Default Video card problem

Hi there.

It seems I have a problem with my video card as at the start-up my pc makes 1 long and 2 short beeps. The story goes like this. I have a Hp Pavilion dv2224ea notebook pc, running on Vista. It is only 14 months old. Some time ago i heard a funny noise coming from the motherboard, sounded like the cpu fan not turning properly. I switched it off. The day after, when I turned it on, it didn't boot, the screen was absolutely blank and it did the same beeps. I tried few more times and at the third it booted up, did the start up repair, though after a few minutes of using the pc it completely stopped responding so i had to push the power button to turn it off. From then on, every time I tried to turn it on it just did the beeps (1 long and 2 short always) and it was blank. The bad thing is, the video card is integrated in the motherboard. I got a friend to dismantle it and look inside, and he said the cpu fan and everything else looked to be working properly, and that it has to be my video card as the beeps indicated. He added I could either replace the motherboard or sell the pc into pieces. And that is very sad, since I only bought it a year ago. Miraculously, today (that is after two weeks appr.) I turned it on just to try. At first, it did the beeps. The second time, there appeared a few options on the screen so I chose to do the start up repair, it said it was succesful, but when it restarted it went black. The third time though, when I chose 'start windows normally' it booted up and I am using it now. It has been on for few hours and everything seems normal. The question is, what do I do now? How can I find out if the video card is dying? Is there any chance for me to repair it? Or is it just a matter of times till it dies entirely? Thanks a lot for reading this novel.

Default Re: Video card problem

14 Months ?? Have you looked into warranty service ?
If a major component faled that soon after-- (12-month?) expiration...you may-- with a bit of fighting be able to get the maker to cover at least the parts.
