Default Problem with drivers

I have a GeForce 7800gt and recently tried to update the drivers. I tried to follow some directions about uninstalling, rebooting then installing. When I did the reboot step, the computer wont' boot up now. Sometimes I get a Blue Screens of Death, sometimes it won't go past the first black screen that comes up. The graphic driver is the only thing I changed, So I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. Is the best course of action to get a dvi - vga converter and plug the monitor into the Motherboard and just unplugging the graphics card? Or will that even do anything? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Hi welcome to PCHF will the PC boot in safe mode? install the driver in safe mode if it will.

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps: 1.Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.2.Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.3.When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

Thanks for the suggestion, but thats one of the screens it freezes at. Either it will do nothing when I hit f8, or it will start to boot, then flash the Blue Screens of Death and restart. I'm kind of worried I did something that affected more than the graphics card, but that is the only change I've made on my pc in quite awhile.

if the pc has onboard graphics as well try remove the card and see if it will boot in safe mode. If it will remove all the display adapters in the device manager. shut the pc down and put your card back in and see if it boots and asks for the driver

Ok, thanks for the quick response. I will give it a try tomorrow when I wake up. I'll probably post back if it doesn't work. Thanks again

So it turns on my Motherboard doesn't have onboard video. I could have sworn it did. The blue screen flashes almost instantly before restarting, I can't see it unfortunately. Anything else to try?

I've been trying to repair xp, but its just not working. It recognizes the disc and goes to the screen "checking hardware config" and then goes black forever. I have my hard drive partitioned with windows in its own section, is there anyway to just wipe the windows section and reinstall it? I've been trying for hours just to get into the repair screen and it wont' go that far
