Can you take a look at your current stick and tell me what the label says? Should at least have a serial/part number I can look up, or might have the speed/PC number

Having looked here I found your mobo doesn't support pc3200 speed. Also here, and here I found your motherboard supports ddr333, and not ddr400 like you said you need.

That's true, if you put PC3200 memory in it, it would run it at PC2700 speeds and could potentially heavily impact performance

Ninja-Edit:
If you took your DDR400 stick from the old motherboard, and put it into the new one, that would explain your performance loss

Yep I just saw in the manual I need either DDR333 or DDR266 SDRAM. Not my fault, I had a shop install the motherboard, I guess they should have told me my old ram was not compatible. So if I just pop in a stick of 1gb DDR333 ram, you think it will improve?

Significantly.

Call the shop and tell them they're morons for me will ya?

If I were you though, I'd try and grab a 2x1Gb PC2700 (DDR333) kit

Update:

just took out the PC3200 ram and popped in my new 1gb pc2700 ram. No difference whatsoever in the performance. Should I try to put both sticks of ram together or will that ruin the motherboard?

Hello alex just put old stick in first slot next to CPU and the new stick next to it.

See how she starts up.
