Check device manager and us it to ensure ALL drivers are installed correctly.

Does your Motherboard have a x4 or x8 AGP slot?
It's a 4x/8x slot

All the drivers are installed. There are no yellow "question marks" in device manager. I should probably mention that when i JUST turn a game on (for example, GTA), it runs alright on the highest res, and then progressively gets worse until it's unplayable. Changing the res does nothing. I;ve considered overheating, but I do have 2 fans running in addition to the CPU fan and the video card fan, so that's unlikely.

Downloading DirectX now. Im considering buying an nvidia 6200 just to see if it fixes the problem because I suspect a problem with the hardware. Thanks for all your help guys

Hmm, you wouldn't have an extra gig to throw in for RAM would you? To see if performance stays stable at 2Gbs?

If you have a 1024mbs stick already, getting a second one would be a better choice then a 512Mbs stick. I can recommend using TigerDirect since you're in Canada correct?

Thanks. I'm looking on the tigerdirect site, and ram i need is ddr400, but it also says "pc3200". I dont know what that means and it doesnt say anything like that on my old ram. What does it mean and is it compatible?

Can you take a look at your current stick and tell me what the label says? Should at least have a serial/part number I can look up, or might have the speed/PC number

Having looked here I found your Motherboard doesn't support pc3200 speed. Also here, and here I found your motherboard supports ddr333, and not ddr400 like you said you need.

That's true, if you put PC3200 memory in it, it would run it at PC2700 speeds and could potentially heavily impact performance

Ninja-Edit:
If you took your DDR400 stick from the old motherboard, and put it into the new one, that would explain your performance loss

Yep I just saw in the manual I need either DDR333 or DDR266 SDRAM. Not my fault, I had a shop install the motherboard, I guess they should have told me my old ram was not compatible. So if I just pop in a stick of 1gb DDR333 ram, you think it will improve?
