Default [Answered] What is crossfirex ready

I'm not sure which forum this question should be in because I don't know what it is.

I have been looking at some new motherboards and and have started finding crossfirex ready.

Hi, crossfire is the name of the technology used to run 2 ATi graphics cards on the same motherboard at the same time

Yeah, works slightly differently to Sli but pretty much just for gamers or HD video editing where you need a lot of graphics power

Crossfire is the exact same thing as SLI except for crossfire relates to ATI card while SLI relates to Nvidia (well there are a few other minor differences). Although yes it usally is used by gamers, it doesn't neccessarily have to be as you could use it for other things like working with graphic design and Animation and stuff.

ok. I thought that's what it was. I'm not a gamer so it's not needed.

many thanks.
