Right. Ive had this problem a few months now. Because i don't go on PC games a lot it hasn't bothered me, but i thought i should sort it out.


When i load a game eg Guild wars , C&C etc It works for 2 mins, then i get strange flickering on textures, then it will freeze, (sometimes reloads onto game) but usually it completely conks out monitor turns off with the sound looping. the PC doesn't turn off but i cant get the monitor to switch back on until reboot.



Any Help?

Update gfx drivers would be the first step

The graphics drivers are up to date.

Hello do you have the ATI control panel installed?I think you should check your settings in there?


A little bit more RAM would help to.upgrade so you have at least 2 gig.

I do have catalyst control center. What setting should i change? most are either at default or lower


Because this computer is under warranty ( but gets complicated so i cant open it ) i cant give it any more RAM....

Well there are a few simple ones like refresh rate,resolution,etc.

Take a look in there and see what the setup is please,what is turned off or set to low?

What is set to low?

Default,low maybe your problem.

might be worth dropping hardware acceleration down a bit. What does event viewer record on the crashes?

Right, I've looked at the event log and i get the same error several times

"CRT invalid display type"



im guessing this is actually an ATI error not my computer?

Do you have a CRT monitor attached?

How is your monitor attached,via wich connection?

Have you tried roll back driver or uninstall the driver and reinstall?
