Default [Answered] bought a 7300GT - upgrade to windows VISTA?

hi folks. just recently bought a GF7300GT 512mb and would like to ask if i should upgrade to vista from XP. Before, I had a radeon 9550 256mb and it didn't work well with vista.
Now that I have a 7300gt, is it advisable for me to upgrade to vista to see more of the eyecandies it has to offer?

I'm more of a gamer and do my games look better in vista than in XP?

Thanks to all who comment.

Heya Zelda,

Technically games will look better in Vista if you have a DirectX 10 capable video card...which you don't. DirectX 10 has some nice new features and when games are written for it, it looks dang nice.

If you are going to run Vista, I would recommend a pretty beefy PC if you are using it just for games. Vista is a performance hog by itself, let alone when you are running video games on it. I keep XP on my gaming machine just cause I get a better framerate performance out of my games....which is better for headshots It's not an incredible deal to me if the game has a few cooler effects in it. But that's just my opinion obviously...

If you have a 7300GT, I'm guessing you have a mid range computer. Upgrading it to Vista is just going to degrade your gaming performance even more. My recommendation may be different depending on the specs of your PC. Let me know what you have and maybe I can throw some advice your way if you want to gear up for Vista.

As long as you have plenty of ram you will be fine (at least 2 gig) The only process that hogs the system unnessacarily is Aero which you can turn off or your game will when it runs.
People put Vista down as a resource hog because of how it uses Ram memory. It caches the most often used files so it can read them much quicker when called for. This if you do not have plenty of ram will cause the system to slow. If you do have enough ram then the system will run more efficient than xp. The system then free up ram when required by the system,if you have plenty it does not need to. This of course is also dependant on cpu.If your underpowered then do not do it.
My 11 year old daughter runs Vista 32 bit with 1 gig of ram and a 4200 x2 cpu without any issue at all.I run vista X64 and have done since RTM launch and wouldnt change back to xp for love or money. I run DX10 games with ease and they are great. For point of referrence my system uses 1% of cpu to idle so not hogging processes and 1.3 gb of of 4 gig of ram the system has. Please note X64 Vista caches a lot more ram than X86 Vista

Thanks for the info. Even I thought that it would decrease performance but would give me nice graphics.

I'm sticking then to XP until I can upgrade my PC or buy a new one.
