Default [Fixed] tearing graphics in games

hi I have recently installed new nvidia drivers (169.21) and have noticed since that I get tearing graphics in games and laggy gameplay. This didn't happen before with the previous drivers (163.75). So I uninstalled the new ones and reinstalled the previous ones that worked fine before, but now I still get the same tearing in games. I have tried adjusting the different settings in the games and on the nvidia control panel but It hasn't helped.
I might be able to do a system restore, but am not sure whether this would take me back to before I installed the (169.21) drivers.
Could it be because the card isn't correctly slotted into the agp slot?

thanks, jake

Hi Jake.
The screen tearing is likely to be caused by vsync/incorrect refresh rate on your monitor.
Change the refresh rate on your monitor to the highest it will allow
To change the refresh rate follow these steps:

1. Right click the desktop and then click properties
2. Click the settings tab and then click advanced
3. Click the monitor tab, and select the refresh rate

Now open up a game, go to the options and choose video settings. Make sure the refresh rate in-game is set to the same as your desktop. If an option to enable vsync is there, enable it.

thanks cowburn, I have altered the refresh rates and found that the maximum is 75hertz. The graphics have improved and the tearing has dropped loads since I altered the refresh rates and I have left it at 70 which works well with games.

thanks, jake
