Default [Resolved] Black screen of doom!

Hey, I`ve been playing Far Cry for the past couple of days and twice now my monitor has turned itself off, and once the picture froze on the screen, when this has happened the only thing i`ve been able to do is turn the Pc off with the switch on the front of the case.

So i`m guessing overheating or a PSU problem, any ideas how i can troubleshoot this?

D

DUUUUDE!!1

I HAD the EXACT! same problem, it was my graphics card :O my 6200

My 5200 was fine, and my current 7600 is giving me no problems.

It sounds like overheating, or PSU problems, does your card have a fan or heatsink?

I'd try reinstalling the graphics drivers, or updating them first, never hurts to try that.

ok, i`ve uninstalled then reinstalled the latest drivers...

Its been pretty much ok since i got it, not the greatest of cards but better than what i had before (FX5200 128mb) and now that i think about it, i think my step-son had the same problem once whilst playing COD4 on my PC...

So could it just be a dodgy card or did i not fit it right?

Edit: The Gfx card has a fan on it and below it i have a pci slot fan
